Holy Trinity Church

Holy Trinity Church

Opened in 1867 by Melbourne’s first Archbishop, James Alpius Goold, Holy Trinity Church in Queenscliff occupies a picturesque and strategic position at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay.

By the end of the century, Queenscliff had joined a new Mission that extended across the bay to Sorrento, Portsea and Rye, and from 1914 to 1954, Archbishop Daniel Mannix served as parish priest, residing in the presbytery at Queenscliff each year from the end of January to the Sunday before St Patrick’s Day.

Over time, the church has seen extensions and interior changes, yet its atmosphere remains unchanged. Now part of Holy Trinity Parish with Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove, it continues to offer a warm welcome and peaceful sanctuary to residents, holidaymakers and pilgrims.
